About Us

The creation, formation and incorporation of MCDT developed as a result of an extensive and thorough 15 month Community Planning process (see Maltby Community Plan). This process identified the need to:

  • Create a local company capable of delivering economic and social regeneration.

Initially the Trust had been pump primed with both UK Government and European grant aid (£205,000) to core fund its work (staff salaries and overhead costs) until 31.12.2006, up until this time the Trust has to develop businesses (social enterprises) so that it becomes self sustaining thereafter.

The non profit distributing business model adopted is that of a Private Limited Company; Limited by Guarantee with members who either live or work in Maltby and its five surrounding parishes and are aged over 18 years. Member’s liability is limited to £1.00 which will only be called upon if the company is wound up because it cannot pay its debts.

Staff were appointed in March 2004 (Programme Manager), January 2005 (Finance and Admin Manager) and May 2005 (Membership Officer).
